Pre-Professional Curriculum Maps

There are multiple pathways for completing the Pre-Professional curriculum, which includes all prerequisite courses for the Professional (Pharm.D.) Program. Students in the Pre-Professional Program in Pharmacy can choose the map that makes the most sense for them with the support of our Pre-Professional and Regional Campus Advisors.

Two Year Pre-Professional Sequence

This sequence assumes placement into MATH 1131Q and CHEM 1127Q and satisfaction of the second language requirement upon admission to the University. Please note that each student’s circumstances are unique. The recommended sequence may vary depending on AP, ECE, or other dual enrollment or transfer credits.

  1. These courses need not be taken in the semester indicated. The bolded math and science prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the spring semester of the year seeking enrollment. The other bolded prerequisite courses: ENGL 1007 (or 1010 or 1011), ECON 1201, and SOCI 1001 must be completed prior to the start of the professional program.
  2. May be fulfilled by any 1000-level sociology, psychology, or anthropology course from content area 2. Students using PSYC 1100 (CA-3) for this requirement will be required to take an additional content area 2 course to fulfill the university general education requirement.
  3. The double dip may also occur between Content Area 2 and Content Area 4, which would be completed in the social science prerequisite course. Examples include any 1000-level ANTH course or 1000-level SOCI courses that are coded as CA-2 and CA-4.
  4. It is possible for the W requirement to be fulfilled by courses in content areas 1, 2, or 4.

All general education requirements must be completed by the end of P2 in order to earn the BS in Pharmacy Studies and advance into the Pharm.D.

Professional Curriculum Maps

The Professional (Pharm.D.) Program cannot be completed in fewer than four years. All Professional (Pharm.D.) didactic coursework is only offered on the Storrs campus.

Four Year Professional (Pharm.D.) Sequence

Progression into the professional curriculum assumes application and acceptance into the Professional Program in Pharmacy. Please note that each student’s circumstances are unique.
