General Education

The General Education Curriculum provides academic breadth with a set of intellectually rigorous and challenging courses. Every undergraduate student in a baccalaureate degree program in the University, on all campuses, must complete the General Education Curriculum. The General Education Curriculum comprises four content areas, four competencies, and Environmental Literacy.

General Education Requirements

Pharmacy students must complete all general education courses by the end of their second professional (P2) year in order to earn the BS degree in Pharmacy Studies and advance into the Pharm.D.

Second Language – A student meets the minimum requirement if admitted to the University with 3 years of a single foreign language in high school, or the equivalent. Writing (W) – All students must take English 1007, 1010, or 1011. All students must also pass two writing-intensive courses, which may also satisfy Content Area Requirements. One of these courses must be at the 2000-level or above and associated with the student’s major. English 1007, 1010, or 1011 is a prerequisite to all writing-intensive courses. ENGL 1007/1010/1011
