In today's fast-paced and competitive world of pharmacy practice, the profession is actively seeking future leaders. Our School of Pharmacy aims to recognize and nurture these emerging leaders by preparing them for prominent roles in the field. The Pharmacy LEADERS Track is designed to broaden and deepen students' educational and experiential backgrounds to shape the next wave of pharmacy leaders.
Each year a group of students from the UConn School of Pharmacy apply for and are selected to the next LEADERS Track cohort.
LEADERS Track students have the unique opportunity to hone their leadership abilities through a diverse range of experiences. These include hands-on projects, pharmacy-focused leadership classes, and interactive seminars that challenge them to take the lead in their educational journey. They also engage in mentorship programs, participate in collaborative group work, and take part in real-world problem-solving scenarios. These enriching experiences allow students to apply their knowledge in practical settings, empowering them to steer their learning with confidence and creativity while preparing them for leadership roles in the pharmacy field.
Our LEADERS Track mentorship program pairs students with experienced pharmacists in various practice settings. Also, each student has a faculty advisor for personalized guidance. Through one-on-one sessions, group discussions, and career workshops, students gain insights, advice, and access to valuable professional connections. This program equips students with the skills and support they need to thrive in leadership roles within the pharmacy field.
